week 10 & 11

Two more weeks have passed and nothing special happened. Until now I have been enjoying the last days of Winter. After the first gentle peeks of Spring during the first days of March, cold and damp weather has took over again to accompany the last days of Winter. I have been enjoying the last weeks of “hibernation” and did all the things I like during the darker seasons. I did a lot of knitting, went to bed early and enjoyed staying at my cozy home. Furthermore¬†I started a new book in which I like to escape during my evenings (The Invisible Bridge by Julie Orringer). It’s the first time I’m actually reading on an everyday basis for a long time as I normally enjoy listening to audibooks while knitting or crocheting.

Week 9

Okay, so I survived my first week at work after my vacation. Though I couldn’t have been more moody on a Monday morning, every day from then on got easier. What was also lightening my mood was the prospect of a free weekend that I am celebrating now. My man is out of town so I made myself a cozy weekend full of knitting, browsing the internet (…always so time consuming…) and cups of alternately tea and coffee. I only left the house for a Saturday morning stroll to get some flowers and food. What I really liked about this week ist the undeniable shift from Winter to Spring (not to be compared to mallorcan Spring,

Week 7

Yes I am late for week seven as it’s already day one of week six. Just a quick word. All things worth mentioning had happened from Saturday on (previously only dull everyday life and ugly work). We escaped the grey and damp middle-european February and took a shortcut to Spring. Less than two hours in a plane took us to a sunny spanish island called Mallorca (all the Euopeans know it). Now we are in the middle of a one week vacation. The sun had already tickled my nose and a few fine freckles appeared. Mornings and evening are still chilly but the afternoon sun is already quite strong and you don’t need a jacket or even a long sleeved shirt at all.

Week 6

Yes, I skipped week 5 since I didn’t really find time to make some pictures and after all nothing really happened. I keep working on my flowers in the snow blanket though I have a strong urge to start a new knitting project. Honestly I would love to cast on a new sweater again but my brain¬†says that I have enough sweater I don’t wear regularly and even more I have this huge amount of stash that really needs to get minimized before ordering 10 brand new skeins for a major project. The stash is huge but there a only few skeins of the same color or strenght so it will only be good for minor projects (like lots of socks).

Week 4

Another week has passed and also this one has been full of wonderful clear and cold winter air, frozen fingers in the morning and beautiful pink-orange sunsets on my way home from work. If it was for me this weather could last non-stop from December till February. Unfortunately temperatures are slowly rising again and the snow will soon be gone. But I am not too sad as in three weeks we have our first one-week vacation this year.

This week I also rediscovered my flowers-in-the-snow granny square blanket and with that my love for granny squares as such. Isn’t this beautiful? I started it like two years ago and now I can’t wait to finish this one.

Week 3

So another week has passed and it has as always been stuffed with work.Temporarily I leave when it is still dark and I get home when it is dark again. But I notice that the days slowly get longer! Nevertheless I managed to dye some yarn last Sunday. It was super exciting and so much fun. I wanted to try some different techniques and not all of them have turned out so well. I prefer rather soft and pale colours so in fear of getting too much colour at my yarn I took it out of the dye bath to soon I think because once my yarn was dry it lost a lot of its color.
